If you put NotebookEvaluate[$UserDocumentsDirectory <> "/Mathematica/notebook.nb"] inside a Button, (i.e., Button["title", NotebookEvaluate[$UserDocumentsDirectory <> "/Mathematica/notebook.nb"] ]), then you can use ButtonNotebook[]=!= $Failed in the target notebook.
