About

I've been a professor of mathematics at The University of North Carolina - Asheville since 1997. I started using Mathematica as a beginning graduate student in mathematics at Ohio State in 1989. At that time, we used version 1.1 (as I recall) to teach calculus in our Calculus and Mathematica classes. After using Mathematica for many years, I was fortunate enough to join Wolfram Research for 2012-2014 as a Wolfram Alpha developer.

While I still use Mathematica a lot for mathematics, I've resisted its expansion into other areas as the so-called "Wolfram Language", generally preferring to use non domain specific programming languages for general programming tasks.
