Is it possible to direcly import Nikon ND2 files (e.g Confocal microscope 2D or 3D stacks files)?

Otherwise how can we import TIFFs of 3D stack and process it as a single "entity" so to speak?

Many thanks.

  • $\begingroup$ I don't know about that file type specifically, but look into Image3D and Image3DSlices $\endgroup$ – N.J.Evans Oct 13 '15 at 18:45
  • $\begingroup$ From the documentation, it looks like you can import a multipage TIFF as an Image3D. Regarding the ND2 format, I highly doubt anyone has implemented that, so you would need use a library in another language (e.g. C, Java) and write some additional code to plug it in to Mathematica, if you want this functionality badly. $\endgroup$ – Oleksandr R. • $\begingroup$ @OleksandrR. Why not? If [this](exists) ... But I agree, look for ways to implement the importer yourself. If you do, consider sharing it. $\endgroup$ – Szabolcs Oct 13 '15 at 18:58
  • $\begingroup$ Thank you for your positive feeback. I am working on it and will be glad to share if I get it to work. $\endgroup$ – Mitochondria List Oct 13 '15 at 19:35
  • $\begingroup$ NIS-Elements-Viewer loads ND2 files and can export them to TIFF, which can be imported by Mathematica. $\endgroup$ – Sjoerd C. de Vries Oct 13 '15 at 20:11
