I am constructing a GraphicsGrid from a set of plots. Is there an easy way to add an overall label for the whole grid?

Just use PlotLabel:

GraphicsGrid[
 Partition[Table[Plot[Sin[k x], {x, 0, 2 \[Pi]}], {k, 4}], 2],
 PlotLabel -> "Insert Label Here"]

  • $\begingroup$ This method no longer appears to work in Mathematica 12.0. $\endgroup$ – Michael Seifert Jul 11 at 15:16

    $\begingroup$ Try using Show[ GraphicsGrid[ ...], PlotLabel-> "Label"] $\endgroup$ – mikemtnbikes Sep 14 at 17:27

Panel[GraphicsGrid[Partition[Table[Plot[Sin[k x], {x, 0, 2 \[Pi]}], {k, 4}], 2]],
 Style["label", "Panel", 16], {{Top, Center}}]

enter image description here

Panel[GraphicsGrid[Partition[Table[Plot[Sin[k x], {x, 0, 2 \[Pi]}], {k, 4}], 2]],
 Style["label", "Panel", 16], {{Top, Center}},
 Appearance -> "Frameless"]
