# Saving graphics in Adobe Illustrator .ai format

How do I save a ListLinePlot graphic as an Adobe Illustrator file (with extension .ai)?

• .AI is not a supported format. Export is the relevant command. – mfvonh Jun 30 '14 at 17:39
• With \$ExportFormatsyou get all supported Formats. Check out this link (@Jens) – user9660 Jun 30 '14 at 17:47
• Can Illustrator import PDF? – Michael E2 Jun 30 '14 at 19:12
• @MichaelE2 Yes, but Adobe Illustrator's support of PDF is limited. – Alexey Popkov Jun 30 '14 at 19:49

• If you look at the header of an AI file, it's actually just a PDF file with some additions. That's why it can for example be viewed in Preview on OS X without having to install Illustrator. AI format used to be based on EPS, but that's no longer the case. – Jens Jun 30 '14 at 18:07
a = Plot[Sin[x], {x, -Pi, Pi}];
