# .:Duplicated:..formatting - text cells and math cells [duplicate]

I'm writing a formulary in Mathematica and I'm experiencing issues while formatting the text. I create a new notebook and a text cell (Alt+9) with text style. Let's say I'm writing the following

The solutions are x, x2,x3

A math cell is automatically created when I do the superscript Ctrl+6, and it contains only "x2,x3". More general, a math cell is created whenever I try to insert things from Palettes > Writing Assistant (or "Basic Math") Since I don't want this to happen, how can I write math formulas outside a math cell.

I know it is possible because I have a notebook where this doesn't happen, that is I can write any maths formulas in the same text cell.

Perhaps the image might clarify Is there a way to do this?

• I would use XeLaTeX instead of MMA. – Hector Aug 14 '18 at 19:17
