aplot = ArrayPlot[#] & /@ ConstantArray[0, {3, 3, 3}];
GraphicsRow[aplot, ImagePadding -> 0]

produces

missing sides

I see that I can fix this with ImagePadding ->{{Automatic, Automatic}, {0, 0}}, but I don't understand why this is needed. Explanation?

  • $\begingroup$ Why use ImagePadding at all? $\endgroup$ – Feyre Aug 9 '16 at 16:03
  • $\begingroup$ To remove whitespace. See e.g., mathematica.stackexchange.com/questions/67301/… $\endgroup$ – Alan Aug 9 '16 at 16:27
  • $\begingroup$ It gives me the exact same result as GraphicsRow[aplot], regardless of what's inside. $\endgroup$ – Feyre Aug 9 '16 at 16:37
  • $\begingroup$ @Feyre I'm using Mma 11 on Win 10. ImagePadding definitely matters for the output (both displayed and saved). $\endgroup$ – Alan Aug 9 '16 at 18:01
  • $\begingroup$ have you tried ImageMargins? $\endgroup$ – george2079 Aug 9 '16 at 18:07
