You could do something like the following:

pl1=Plot[x,{x,0,1},Frame->True,ImageSize->350, 
 ImagePadding->{{Scaled[0.05],None},{Automatic,Automatic}}];
pl2=Plot[x^2,{x,0,1},Frame->True,ImageSize->350, 
 ImagePadding-> {{None,Scaled[0.05]},{Automatic,Automatic}}];

Grid[GraphicsGrid[{{pl1, pl2}}, Spacings -> 0]{Scaled[-0.07],0}]

This removes the padding from the graphics themselves with the option ImagePadding, and a magic number of -0.07...There is likely a better way.
