@miss, hmm, I only have 12.3, in which it works fine. You may try replacing that line with something like reg = BoundaryDiscretizeGraphics[Text[Style[letter, FontFamily -> "Cambria"]], _Text, MaxCellMeasure -> {"Length" -> 0.1}]
