Thank you so much! I did mean you to dig that deeply into the internals, but I learned a lot from this. Apparently, there is no easy way to specify precision other than overwriting the library function pointed onto by GeometryTools`GeometryToolsDump`iWGTAssimpExport. But then it is easier for me use my customized library functions anyways. Anyways, thank you for looking into this. have my accept!
