@M.R. I had used the file extension ".mx" by mistake, should have been ".wl" all along as I use Save , not DumpSave . The reason being that during Get , DumpSave d files do not return a result while Save d files return the value of the last symbol in the file.

@M.R. MX files are portable across different platforms, I can make an MX file on my mac and share it with someone else on Windows. They aren't portable for systems with different $SystemWordLength , so someone on 32-bit Windows can't read an MX file created on a 64-bit system.
