@AlexeyPopkov This seems related, and what I show there (PlotRange -> RegionBounds[r] ) would be a better workaround if it didn't hang in 11.0.1 ...

Feb 25, 2017 at 14:51 | comment | added | Szabolcs | @AlexeyPopkov You're right. I tried it in 10.3 and in the beta version (which I thought was 11.0) ... It works in both. In 11.0.1 it hangs.
Feb 25, 2017 at 14:50 | comment | added | Alexey Popkov | @Szabolcs Have you tried it? It doesn't work for me with v.11.0.1.

@AlexeyPopkov Sorry, I was not being clear. I meant r = ImplicitRegion[(x^2 + y^2)^3 == l*x^2*y^2, {{x, -1, 1}, {y, -1, 1}}]; , then RegionPlot[r] .

@Szabolcs RegionPlot[r, {x, -1, 1}, {y, -1, 1}] doesn't work in v11.0.1.

@Szabolcs In v11.0.1 RegionPlot plots only one petal. It seems the bug is fixed only partially...

10.4.1 for Linux x86 (64-bit) : no 2D examples from the docs give a plot. Not even RegionPlot[ImplicitRegion[x^2 + y^2 == 1, {x, y}]] .
