In this particular case, I felt we really need more detailed discussion on this topic, and I think it is still good to have it even though the other similar discussion apparently took place before. Because this behavior, apart from being not very obvious to the uninitiated, is also a single good reason to put stuff in packages even when there are no private functions. This is important, and I haven't seen this issue discussed elsewhere in any detail. | |

Awesome reply - I should have worded my comment better - makes it sound like Module puts symbol into Global, when it's the parser...

This is an important and rather subtle topic, and it is good to have some explanation for this on the site. Partially this has been discussed before in that question with Mr.Wizard's answer I linked to, but it wasn't really concerned with why this happens.
