Election Phase

In the election phase, the candidates who made it through the nomination phase or primary phase (if required) advance to final community voting. Candidates are displayed in random order.

Any community member with 150 reputation may vote in the election. Please make your selections in order of preference, with the most desirable candidate as first choice. You do not need to rank all candidates.

We will calculate the winners using OpaVote with the Meek STV method, which automatically weights users' votes in the way that does the most good for the candidates they have selected, in order of preference.

When the election is complete, the ballot file will be freely downloadable from this page for the life of the site. Individual users' voting choices are always private; only the aggregated tally will be made public.

On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

patient and fair
leads by example
shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

Primary
Election

There is a lot to do on Mathematica.se with respect to content management (closing/finding duplicates/handling flags) which I enjoy and do anyway.

Yes, enjoy is the key point, this site needs people who enjoy finding duplicates and manage tagging.

I'm quite patient and I am open minded when it comes to interpretation of "on topic" rules. Which reflects a 'net' attitude this community presents.

I promise to work on my English. :)

I enjoy Mathematica.SE. The site is relaxed, high-reputation users are never condescending, and good questions get fantastic answers. Every day I look forward to logging on to the site and perusing the questions and answers as a welcome distraction, as a source of mental challenges, and as a learning tool. My wife calls MMA.SE "my weird Facebook", since I visit it so often, and I enjoy seeing what everybody is up to :-)

This is the first Internet-based forum to which I feel I owe my contributions. I actually enjoy fixing up questions, adjusting tags, and generally contributing to the upkeep of the site. I have also done a couple of topical "deep dives", reaching back into the question pile to put up old questions for closure, and answering some long-forgotten ones.

I think I can otherwise best contribute to the site by sharing the behind-the-scenes management burden, while actively using the mod's powers as little as possible: in my opinion, moderators need only step in in absolutely clear-cut case, or to stop abuse. Otherwise, this site self-polices rather well!
