To all the new users who have been attracted by this question, we encourage you to stick around and get to know what else Mathematica can do.

comment Best Practice for using Notation, $Pre, MakeExpression in a package
@NoEscape - I repeat my earlier request to keep it civil. The tone of your comments to rcollyer in particular, as well as to rm-rf, has been completely uncalled for. This has nothing to do with your current reputation and everything to do with your attitude. There is no need to fly off the handle in response to a mildly worded suggestion to make your questions more focused so they admit a specific answer. Three questions means three opportunities for upvotes from the same user, so I don't know what you're complaining about. We are trying to help, there is no need to bite back.

@NoEscape - please keep it civil. The point we are trying to make is that StackExchange sites have a specific purpose - Q&A. They aren't designed for open-ended discussion. To that end, we prefer questions to be crafted in a way that admits a specific answer. You might find this guide useful, along with this blog post by Jon Skeet. As I said before, these are interesting questions, but it would be better to split them into three separate posts, and provide a little more detail for each.

comment Best Practice for using Notation, $Pre, MakeExpression in a package
This is a really interesting set of questions. However, because this is a Q&A site, not a discussion site, it would be better to (a) break this up into three questions as numbered and (b) be a bit more specific about your actual problem (e.g., what are the non-standard notations and input conventions you actually want to use). I would also recommend you format function names as code for easy reading. Here's how to do it.

The answers to this question might be of assistance. I think part of the issue is that you are using GraphicsRow instead of Row.

Welcome to Mathematica.SE! Could you please edit your question to explain what you have tried, and how the spreadsheet outcomes linked in your question relate to the problem.

comment How to make “molbio-style heat maps” in Mathematica
Isn't this question, in essence, the same as your earlier closed one, with the added issue of getting the right ColorFunction? Have a look at the documentation for Blend.

comment Are there suitable versioning systems for Mathematica notebooks?
@FredDanielKline there is already a proposal for the community to migrate that question on SO. If that is supported, then we can merge your question with that one once it's migrated.

Welcome to Mathematica.SE, arkajad! I formatted your code for you, to make it easier for people to read. This page is helpful if you would like to know how to do this yourself.

In similar circumstances you might want to investigate Switch and Which, which are both easier to manage than nested If statements.

Glad to help, but "Why don't the integrals converge?" is a completely different question.

I can confirm this worked in a fresh session (without needing a "clean start") under Mac OS x 10.8

By the way, @bijeli_vitez, welcome to Mathematica.SE! Please consider registering your account so that any upvotes you get on this question are added to those you might get on future questions and answers. That way, over time you will be able to do more on the site (post graphics, edit things, etc).

I found some other weird options like PopoutSpacing and Popout->True but I couldn't work out what they did.

You've see my brute-force coding methods - :) actually it didn't take that long to isolate the r$ thing by searching for Callout.

Some spelunking in a Trace of your code suggests that the settings are hardcoded. For example, the radius of the disk is set by the value of Charting‘ChartLabelingDump‘r1$. I tried setting this but could not find a way to change the value used. Incidentally, I found two undocumented labeling options, "Staggered" (same as "RadialOuter") and "CircularUniformFramed". Try: PieChart[Range[10], PerformanceGoal -> "Speed", ChartLabels -> Placed[Range[10], "CircularUniformFramed", Style[#, Red, Bold, 14] &], SectorOrigin -> {Automatic, 1}, ImagePadding -> 20]

Yes, the API works. See this question and this answer to a question on meta. I never got around to linking posts and people though - it would be interesting, but probably requires a Stack API key.

Try evaluating SetOptions[$FrontEnd, PrivateFontOptions -> {"OperatorSubstitution" -> False}] before your code to produce the plot.
