Just use the Export function to export to bitmap formats. It has a whole bunch of parameters that you can set to determine the image parameters.

This sounds like a problem with your JDBC driver, which isn't directly a Mathematica problem. You could try to set up a database connection in Excel and see if it works there. If it does, then it might be a Mathematica problem.
