Author of Presentations Application for writing notebooks with custom graphics, tables, dynamic displays and other aids. Author of ExtendUnits Application. Coauthor of Tensorial. All these available at my web site for a relatively modest price.
My current interest is learning Grassmann algebra and writing a GrassmannCalculus Application in conjunction with John Browne, whose Grassmann algebra work I consider to be absolutely top notch.
I am generally interested in Mathematica as an extended technical development, preservation, documentation and communication medium - as opposed, say, to a super graphical calculator or programming language.

Avoiding grid lines inside filled area in RegionPlot exported as PDF My HP Windows came with PDFComplete accessed from Print. But this was only a trial license that has expired. Using File, SaveSelection As.. gives the bad version. |

Adding contour lines to a 3D plot? @Mr.Wizard There are two things that are better. This is a true contour plot with distinct colors between the contours. Also, using a true contour plot, it is possible to better specify the contour values and obtain distinct coloring in each region using the ContourColors function in Presentations. For example, one might want a number of closely valued contour lines in a plateau region. The Mesh method has mesh lines on top of a general shading. Secondly, the contours have tooltips, whereas the Mesh lines don't. I agree that for many cases the Mesh method might be sufficient. |

Strange ::usage behavior in v9 Yes, I've noticed this same kind of effect in V9, but I never suspected it came from usage messages! The entire usage message design in Mathematica is out of date and a kludge. It should go something like this: Usage[functionname]={{template, usage}..} where usage could be any expression and there could be multiple templates and usages for different forms and command completion for the arguments.
