I got the idea for filling the gap between the interval and the "cut" sequence. How about we use another set $B$ to fill the gap and take Cartesian product of $A\cup B$. For instance $B=\{1,31/30\}$ as a filler interval? But it seems that setting the size of the points and the width of the lines is the main issue.

How can we make width of lines and dots same size? Also, what would you suggest for $A=[0,1]\cup\{3/2,4/3,\cdots,(n+1)/n,\cdots\}$?

I have figured out that it works fine when I export the figure in an English operating system. Tried it with Windows XP Eng and returned a good output. @s.s.o I will try it tomorrow at work, thank you very much.

I am using Windows XP Professional TR version together with Mathematica 8.0. @kguler: I guess I couldn't make it work, because there is no expoerted file.

Crtl + Shift helps in repositioning the output figure manually, and it applies to the exported file too unlike Ctrl + Drag.

Using Ctrl + Drag works for cropping the output figure but it is the original size when exported. This therefore didn't work for me.

However, I have a little problem with the positioning of the image. How can I make it fit the Image box (which appears in orange color when the image is selected) with everything visible? When I click on the image and select Trim Bounding Box some parts become missing.

@ JohnD : Figure 3.7-1 is the sample figure. I want to form the same figure with my own plots p1, p2 and p3. By the way, it seems that GraphicsGrid also useful.

This code looks almost suitable after removing the Labels and the Ticks of the Axes. Show[Graphics[{Inset[p1,{-2.5,3.6164},Right,2],Inset[p2,{-2.5,1.6164},Right,2],‌​Inset[p3,{-1.5,-0.7},Left,6]},PlotRange->5]] Bu I don't know how to find the exact ratio to fix p3 satisfying Property 3 (mentioned above).

Thank you very much E.O. and kguler. I found in the examples of Mathematica PlotStyle->ColorFunction[1,"ColorData"] but could not find the right color. It seems that I had to change the Opacity.
