comment Shading between polar graphs
@David Thank you, and wow! That is absolutely bizarre. Although I have used Evaluate in the second call to PolarPlot, I haven't in the definition for regions. Could you please check if adding Evaluate to that line fixes things in 10.2? And if so, please feel free to edit my answer to add the missing Evaluate :)

@David Could you show me a screenshot of what you get? I have 10.1 and it produces the same figure above.

comment Formatting a complex ArrayPlot
Your code is complicated. Try this: ArrayPlot[{{0, 1, 0}, {1, 1, 1}, {0, 1, 0}}]. Now just hand-code the 3x3 matrices for each of these, map ArrayPlot and wrap in Row and you should be pretty close to done (except for some minor tweaks). This will be far easier and faster than trying to come up with a clever algorithmic/programmatic way to generate those images.

comment Awkward DatabaseLink JDBC Error
Also, are you trying to insert TIMESTAMP into a DATE field? Is this error in the middle of a transaction? If so, does rolling back fix the issue (at least the "it apparently looses the capability of handling dates correctly." part)

comment Awkward DatabaseLink JDBC Error
You might not be able to share the code, but could you please update your post with 1) OS version 2) Mathematica version and 3) Database backend (PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQLite/etc.) 4) Some context around what your app is doing when this error occurs (is it a read/write/update?). Some contextual code snippets would be helpful

comment Fastest way to sum the upper triangle
Another way Total@Flatten@UpperTriangularize[a, 1] (or Total[..., 2] w/o Flatten). Probably not as fast as the Total - Tr route, but easier to read perhaps.

comment Mathematica 10 doesn't support path containing Chinese characters
@MichaelE2 That is weird. I got the same error as well. I think it's some change that was introduced after this post was written/edited. Digging in meta SE, I found this and the SE developer's response was that it's related to some OS X unicode kiss of death issue. Not sure if they extended that to certain chinese characters as well. Probably worth asking on our meta so that we can forward it to the dev.

comment Returning ancillary computation results from a function
@unlikely I hadn't seen this question and your update earlier, but I had asked a similar before (re: multiple outputs matlab style) mathematica.stackexchange.com/q/314/5 I would not recommend it though... the question was purely for curiosity sake :)

I've created a new tag optics and tagged this question with it. You should be able to retag other questions that are optics related :)
