comment How to construct a treemap using non-rectangles?
I did see that demo, but the code I have above is already much better for a few reasons: it is not a hard coded example, it is a usable function that take nested data as input, it uses squarified not slice and dice...

But what exactly do these columns mean?

It should be highlighted just like the \[LeftRightArrow] in the first output image: red when used improperly, and black otherwise. Also, no the Notation`Private`internalCharacterInformation trick only stops InfixNotation from complaining.

Exactly, so how can gone introduce a new character and tell Mathematica that it is supposed to be a binary operator?

Thanks @R.M. I found a good explanation of basic algorithm here: win.tue.nl/~vanwijk/stm.pdf

comment Is it possible to insert a link preceding the Wolfram link at the bottom of html documents?
Assume you have a notebook saved and currently open called MathematicaToHTMLExample.nb that you would like to convert to html.To convert it with a custom stylesheet and footer just run this code changing two things: 1. Replace "stylesheet.css" with your stylesheet saved in the in the same directory as MathematicaToHTMLExample.nb 2. Replace the string "footer" with what you want.

About a second, but If you increase the size of the grid it gets worse fast.

Very close, but what about these cases like: myMapAt[Framed, {1, 2, 3, 4, 5}, 3 ;; -2 ;;]

@Szabolcs can you think of other questions like this where a nice GUI interface would be appropriate?

I amended the function to use ParallelSubmit but I think the other functions wouldn't be difficult to use instead.
