comment Unexpected behavior when using SortBy as a dataset filter
@Karsten7. The reason I picked 42 as the argument for SortBy was to emphasize that any inappropriate argument would work in the last example. Your answer tells me what the appropriate argument is. For which I thank you. It's hard for me to believe, after some much needed sleep, that I didn't think of using #age &, but there is no getting around that I didn't.

comment How to smoothly change the radius of a circle by dragging its circumference?
@Öskå. Yeah, that's why I wrote "This seems to work fairly well" rather than "This seems to work well". It does meet the requirement of moving the circumference smoothly.

An argument of the form {x, xmin, xmax} isn't a option for Plot. It is Plot's required second argument. You must add a required second argument to your function to handle it.

comment How to solve the warning problem and obtain real roots without imaginary part?
You can also use Chop to remove very small imaginaries caused by numerical methods applied to inexact numbers, which is your situation.

comment Solving minimum length confidence interval problem
I'm sure there are many "equations with distribution functions" that nobody can solve, and I don't know what subset of the ones that can be solved Mathematica can do. I'm only saying that Solve can't solve this particular set of equations. The Documentation Center has a lot to say about equation solving. Make a search on "equation solving".
