comment Color plot markers using If statement
This looks good in terms of positive eigenvalues being colored red, negatives being colored blue. What I really want to accomplish is to plot in red all eigenvalues that come from matrix elements labeled by nn (np) values that are positive and plot blue the eigenvalues that are labeled by nn (np) values that are negative (I will then have to deal with nn=0, but that is the next step). The eigenvalue itself may be positive OR negative. This is why I thought an If statement may be the way to go. Perhaps I should have suggested PlotMarkers->{If[nn]>0&&[np]>0, {Red, dotsize}, {Blue, dotsize}}

comment can the color in MeshStyle be specified by a ColorFunction, such as “SunsetColors” for example. If so, what is the correct syntax?
Mr. Wizard, this looks awesome, thank you for your help!

Dear Mr. Wizard, thanks for the "+1". Shorter is always better!!! Do you have a suggestion? I originally defined a function for the energy dispersion relationship to shorten the code, but when I received J.M.s answer, I just went for the brute force approach and started subbing the function itself into his solution. I would appreciate to see your solution. Thanks in advance for your help. R. Frog

comment Show[] combines my Graphics3D objects in an undesirable way
This solves my scaling problem but does not "detach" the two objects. Is there a way to move the wave away from the x-axis of the slab?
