I'm a historian who also happens to tinker around in code for my research. My interests involve textual analysis, web scraping, and the like.

This is very good to hear! I'm trying to figure out what software is worth investing in.

I've failed in this before, especially w/r/t cookies. When trying to find text, I just use Import[x,"Source"] where x is the site (all manually downloaded w/ wget) and then find content using StringCases[] i.e. trlist = StringCases[pagetext, Shortest["<tr>" ~~ ___ ~~ "</tr>"]]; (which would find all text within rows in a page arranged in that way, for example)

@Isaac Hmm, indeed. I would try to find a rebinding option in OS X myself, but I wonder if Mathematica has a workaround.

Yeah, I'm flummoxed after trying a bit more - this is a good question. FWIW, this is why I use the reference centre in my browser for Mathematica help.

I've been playing around and can't seem to find any keyboard shortcuts for this either. If there are keyboard shortcuts, you could use something like BetterTouchTool to implement the functionality... but so far, I can only see the toolbar buttons.

Fantastic! I've used wget before, esp. when I need to use cookies and such, so this is a great addition to my toolkit. Thanks for this.

This works great. I've never used this Package, so will read up on it.

Great, thank you. For some reason, my internet connection is having trouble with Mathematica so it may take me a bit of time to verify this!
