I'm an assistant professor of history who also happens to tinker around in Mathematica for my research. My interests involve textual analysis, web scraping, and the like.

How can I improve Mathematica's resolution on a macbook retina display? @Szabolcs I've started using it again with v9, since this has jogged my memory, and no issues whatsoever after using it pretty intensively over the last few days (lots of graphics & a presentation). v8 broke my find dialogues and occasionally documentation. |

How can I improve Mathematica's resolution on a macbook retina display? @M.R. I just re-checked it on my system and it works. You drag the application icon (not the shortcut from your dock) onto the program, and it'll retinize or de-retinize. |

What is the new command for AffineMap? AffineTransform might be what you're looking for? |

Running a Mathematica program without Mathematica I had been curious earlier about how one could deploy Mathematica content online, perhaps some of the answers there re: CDF and WebMathematica would be helpful. |

Dealing with large files Actually, this SO discussion "Way to deal with large data files in Wolfram Mathematica" looks pretty key for this. stackoverflow.com/questions/2370570/… |

Dealing with large files I'm interested in this too. When I've been dealing with plain text files, I often use the split command in bash. i.e. split -l 500 data. Here's the man page. |
