comment Problem with SerialIO package and Lego NXT
@ihatetoregister The source code is the same. The problem was the version of MathLink the compiled binary was linked against. I intend to clean it up at some point, but I need to find a chunk of time to do so.

I'm glad you got it working. The precompiled version available for download is quite out of date. The reason LinkProtocol->"Pipes" is necessary with the older version is due to an incompatibility between the v6 MathLink and v7,8,9.

@raxacoricofallapatorius Yes, that's what I meant. It provides slightly more information than what is displayed on screen.

Did you not see the big prompt at the top of the window the first time you opened this notebook in version 9?

comment Efficient export of complex graphics to PDF
@Mammouth I'm not quite sure why you believe the raster images aren't compressed, but they most certainly are. If you look in the file you can clearly see the /FlateDecode filter applied to the image stream. This is a lossless compression method so it does not achieve as high a compression ratio as a lossy method (like JPEG).

comment Getting EPS imports to respect the original fill rule
This isn't a bug in Import, it's an unfortunate limitation of the current Mathematica graphics language. Import's job is to create the best Mathematica representation of the input file as possible. The Mathematica graphics language simply doesn't support winding rule fills at this time.
