comment Sketch-type graphics with transparency and dashed hidden lines?
Can you describe your specific goal a bit more clearly? Right now it is too fuzzy/broad. Do you want dashed hidden lines?

@Coolwater the final result should be equivalent though.

You can use Clips third argument to avoid the replacement and (probably) speed this up somewhat seriously, see e.g. Clip[{0, 1, 2, 3, 4}, {1, 3}, {low, high}]

comment How to prepare (copy/paste) data from Matlab?
@Phab see my edit, all you need is N ;-) Oh, and you could use Reverse to efficiently reverse, e.g. try Reverse[{{a, b}, {c, d}}, 2]. Your replacement-based solution can be dangerous, e.g. for 2x2 matrices...

Excellent. Perhaps better answers are on the way - it should be doable to write a menu entry to "paste as mat from clipboard" or similar, but no time right now.

Why not use a .dat or similar file together with Import?

comment Given an equation with one parameter, how do I use NSolve to solve it for many values of the parameter?
You are solving for generic parameter. NSolve notices symbolic content and passes onto Solve, which returns the generic solution. The value replacement is done after that. You can see that exact numbers are returned, where NSolve would return a machine precision solution (as e.g. in my solution). Those are two quite different paths evaluation-wise, and depending on the complexity of the expression, results may vary.

Only potential caveat: This actually calls Solve rather than NSolve.

@rasher for my machine, this is quite the norm. My fans occasionally go beserk (and then add some CUDA stuff to make the gfx card cooling scream along). Next time I´ll go for a business machine rather than a gaming laptop :D

Great! Welcome to the site, in any case :-)
