I just saw that Windows 8 RTM has showed up on Technet, and I've been wondering if I should upgrade my main machine. I've been trying to determine the compatibility of various app with Windows 8 and the one thing I can't seem to find is anybody that has tried Mathematica 8 on Windows 8. Does anybody have any experience with Mathematica 8 on Windows 8?

@Artes I think the issue is whether the current version of Mathematica works with this brand-new version of Windows. This is a reasonable question, but perhaps it would be better asked in chat than as a question on the site? The canonical answer would presumably be a statement by Wolfram about compatibility. – Verbeia♦ Aug 16 '12 at 12:14

@rojo I did not vote to close. But it could be argued that "it works for me" is not a canonical answer, while a statement from Wolfram e.g. On their web site would be, at which point the question is just a pointer to that. – Verbeia♦ Aug 16 '12 at 13:02

@R.M Ok, the question will vanish, but why not let it be for a while? It's probably arbitrary how long it has to last as a valid question, and how many people it should help. I once wondered the same and I am happy to see this answer, and there are probably others out there still – Rojo Aug 16 '12 at 15:14

It works just fine for me, and I am on windows 8. Nothing more to say really.

I tried Mathematica 8 on windows 8 on my new laptop and some problems occured. When sections are closed it did not recognize some equations, so I made it one by one. Also sometimes I waited hours for it to finish some calculations, but it continued running without finishing.
