I have the following question: Can I open a Mathematica 9 notebook in Mathematica 8? Are there compatibility issues?

Typically there is an warning. But so far I haven't meet compatibility issues. – Yi Wang Mar 5 '14 at 21:55
There may be things that don't work, but this should be uncommon. The bigger problem is going to be that some of the code in the notebook won't be compatible with Mma 8. It'll show correctly, it'll be readably, but Mma 8 may not have some of the functions the code relies on. In other words: the notebook can usually be opened, but the code it contains can't always be run without modifications. – Szabolcs Mar 5 '14 at 23:00

From my experience the bigger problem is with Lengends (ofc!) and Graph. I have experienced some weird behaviour between Mathematica 9 and 8 when it comes to GridGraph for example. – Öskå Mar 6 '14 at 10:48
