# Drawing a coordinate system with Graphics [closed]

How can I use mathematica to draw a coordinate system with Graphics-objects? It's a little bit embarrassing, but I've only come so far at the moment:

Graphics[Line[{{0, 0}, {0, 1}, {0, 0}, {1, 0}}]]

Now I'm stuck with drawing small lines in equal distances on the axes and drawing the numbers on the axes under it :/, like in this picture

For the axes-labels take a look at the Ticks option, example: Plot[x^2, {x, -10, 10}, Ticks -> {{1, 4, 10}}]. But honestly I do not understand the second part of your question, what do you mean with adjust the function? –  Wizard Feb 12 at 12:59
@Wizard: Thanks..The Ticks-option is a way I guess. But it seems, I need to do this graphically. I changed the formulation above, I just meant any function in mathematica which helps me with this :) –  holistic Feb 12 at 16:14
More details would be helpful, or a specific minimal example. –  bobthechemist Feb 12 at 17:54
Ok, I guess you are mixing some expressions up here. I definitely do not understand what you mean with "graphically" when you do not want to use a plot. –  Wizard Feb 12 at 21:17
@Wizard, why plot an invisible curve? Just use the relevant options in an empty graphics object e.g. Graphics[{}, Axes -> True] –  Simon Woods Feb 13 at 13:32
