# How can I switch between two modes (auto generate inline cell) with different settings/

How can I switch between these two modes with different settings.

Following is the Text style cell,

In some settings, sometimes, typing a superscript(Ctrl+6) in a Text style cell will auto generate an inline cell.

I'm not sure whether it is the effect of the following settings. Maybe it's a feature, and how can I switch between these two modes?

1. type a superscript auto generate a inline cell(default setting).

2. type a superscript only add one SuperscriptBox without inline cell.

I can not understand what you are asking. When you write "type a superscript", do mean you are typing [ctrl] + [6]?. In that case I get a superscript box with two placeholders. –  m_goldberg Jul 16 at 4:21
@m_goldberg yes, type [ctrl]+[6] to get a superscript box, sometimes in Text Cell will auto generate one inline cell, in the Input Cell, DisplayFormula Cell, no inline cell will generate –  HyperGroups Jul 16 at 5:39
That has never happened to me. I always get a superscript box with two placeholders. Sorry, but for me, this is a can't-reproduce-your-problem question. –  m_goldberg Jul 16 at 19:33
