# Precision of a complex number

In an output I'm getting a number like -0.33998187034939803 + 0.I. Finding Precision[Im[-0.33998187034939803 + 0.I]] I'm getting out put MachinePrecision. Can I really neglect the imaginary part form my calculation?

I've given a link for my mathematica file

Have a look at this:

Depends. Where did you get this output? Are you sure the output is supposed to be real? –  Ｊ. Ｍ. May 21 '13 at 14:08
I'm getting a ouput like (0.5+ 0. I) + ( Sec[ba [Degree]] ((-0.115659 + 0. I) + ((-0.339982 + 0. I) - 0.230658 Cos[2 ba [Degree]]) \!(*SubsuperscriptBox[([Alpha]), (2), (2)]) + 0.150732 \!(*SubsuperscriptBox[([Alpha]), (2), (4)])))/Subscript[\ [Alpha], 2]' which contains the above no. Also, I'm not sure whether the no is real or not. –  Biswajit May 21 '13 at 14:19
That's not an answer to my question. Where did this come from? Some context would be needed. –  Ｊ. Ｍ. May 21 '13 at 14:41
I embedded your picture but it would be better if you included copyable code in your question. –  Mr.Wizard May 21 '13 at 18:39
How does one have a look at that? I zoomed twice and still could not read it. –  Daniel Lichtblau May 21 '13 at 19:12
