I have the matrix:

mat={{0, 1/34, 2/13, 1/5, 1/32, 0, 2/43, 1/30, 0, 0, 0}, {3/25, 0, 3/13,
3/25, 0, 1/3, 4/43, 1/15, 0, 3/22, 1/9}, {1/25, 2/34, 0, 3/25, 0,
1/11, 1/43, 1/30, 0, 0, 0}, {3/25, 0, 0, 0, 3/16, 0, 7/43, 1/10,
1/23, 0, 0}, {3/25, 0, 1/13, 1/5, 0, 1/33, 6/43, 4/15, 4/23, 0,
2/9}, {8/25, 8/17, 1/13, 0, 1/32, 0, 7/43, 2/15, 1/23, 5/22,
1/9}, {0, 5/34, 4/13, 2/25, 1/16, 8/33, 0, 2/15, 3/23, 1/11,
2/9}, {0, 3/34, 1/13, 2/25, 3/16, 1/11, 6/43, 0, 4/23, 1/11,
0}, {3/25, 0, 1/13, 2/25, 5/16, 1/33, 0, 2/15, 0, 3/11, 1/9}, {4/25,
3/17, 0, 2/25, 1/16, 1/11, 8/43, 1/10, 6/23, 0, 2/9}, {0, 1/34, 0,
1/25, 1/8, 1/11, 2/43, 0, 4/23, 2/11, 0}};
mat//MatrixForm

But whenever I put it in it claims that is does not know how to interpret the input.

Could someone just tell me the code to get the eigenvectors because I have to get this done tonight really. It was due on Friday last week.

Works for me. Version, OS, and maybe a screenshot? –  J. M. May 19 '13 at 19:57

mat= previous matrix; Eigenvectors[mat] // N // Normal –  chris May 19 '13 at 20:04

Did you omit MatrixForm? Eigenvectors[mat], not Eigenvectors with copying and pasting the output of mat//MatrixForm? –  Michael E2 May 19 '13 at 22:10

mydata={{1,2},{3,7}};

Eigenvectors[mydata]

{{-(7/3) + 1/3 (4 + Sqrt[15]), 1}, {-(7/3) + 1/3 (4 - Sqrt[15]), 1}}

I'm sorry I know this is stupid, but how do I get it to display the results? I am new to mathematica –  Ryan Durrant May 19 '13 at 20:12

The result of any line you enter which is not terminated with a ';' will be displayed. Alternatively just type the name of a variable and hit 'shift+enter' to see it's contents. For instance: 'myRes=Eigenvectors[mydata]; myRes' –  image_doctor May 19 '13 at 20:16

Try this: mat={you data}; and then Eigenvalues[mat] –  Rod May 19 '13 at 20:17

How can I draw the graph for the initial matrix? I want a weighted network. –  Ryan Durrant May 19 '13 at 22:30
