# Export to pdf from Mathematica involving Greek characters [closed]

When I try to export Greek characters from Mathematica to a pdf file, the pdf is filled with unknown characters. Please note that i have no idea about Mathematica, I have just installed it today. I am trying to export as plain text.

P.S. I have already seen this Copying Greek text from notebooks as unicode.

Edit: My operating system is windows 7, I am using 'Save as...' in order to export. Please try this one for example:

Update1: Using

SetOptions[\$FrontEnd, CharacterEncoding -> "UTF8"]; Export["test.pdf", "Text"]

seems to fix the problem, but the output pdf have grey background like for example this pdf output. Do you guys know a way to make it like this pdf? (second pdf has an issue with spaces between words, and was exported using 'Save as...')

Update2: Thanks everyone, I have found a solution to my problem. Changing character encoding works for me.

could you give an example? it works here. how do you export? with Export, with save as, or some other way? –  acl Mar 21 '13 at 2:36
If you've got a Mac, just select File > Print from the menu's, then click 'Save as pdf'. Job done. –  zentient Mar 21 '13 at 5:42
if I just past all that into a text cell and save as pdf, it's fine (on os x). –  acl Mar 21 '13 at 11:02
Perhaps you could provide the final solution as an answer below? Self-answering is perfectly ok. –  Sjoerd C. de Vries Mar 22 '13 at 6:12
This question should be put on hold because the answer is given in the question and the OP has not visited site in over a year. –  Michael E2 Jul 5 at 19:12
